في لقاء خاص مع المعماري الشاب أحمد عياد، طالب السنة الثالثة بكلية الهندسة – جامعة القاهرة، حدثنا عن شغفه الذي لا ينضب بوسط البلد، ورؤيته المستقبلية لإحياء هذا التراث الفريد.
يقول عياد: “وسط البلد بالنسبة لي مش مجرد مباني، دي روح مدينة كاملة. كل تفصيلة فيها بتحكي حكاية.”
بدأ عياد مبكرًا مشروع “سور”، لدعم الفنانين والمعماريين بالأدوات التي يحتاجونها، ولاحقًا نظم مسابقات تصويرية لتسليط الضوء على الجمال المعماري المهمل. “كنت حابب الناس تشوف وسط البلد زي ما أنا شايفه، مليان حياة وتاريخ”، يضيف بابتسامة.
من خلال مشاريعه الأكاديمية، مثل مشروعه الخاص بإحياء واجهة فندق الكونتننتال، يؤكد عياد التزامه بمبدأ أن العمارة يمكن أن تكون وسيلة لإنقاذ الذاكرة الجماعية.
على صفحاته، ينشر أحمد فيديوهات وصورًا توثق رحلته مع المدينة، مخاطبًا جيلًا كاملاً لكي لا ينسى ماضيه.
Ahmed Ayad, a third-year architecture student at Cairo University, has recently been gaining attention for his outstanding efforts in documenting Downtown Cairo and highlighting its heritage value through his projects and creative content on social media.
Ayad founded Sour, a project that supports art and architecture students by providing them with essential tools, and it quickly gained wide popularity in faculties like Applied Arts in Zamalek and Architecture at Cairo University.
But he didn’t stop there — he launched photography competitions to encourage young people to rediscover Downtown Cairo’s unique architectural beauty. Ayad also integrated this vision into his academic projects, including his initiative to preserve the historic facade of the Continental Hotel.
